Cengiz Türkay

He was born on August 21, 1964 in Elazig. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Adana. He graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1988 and received the title of medical doctor. After completing his compulsory service at Fethiye Social Insurance Hospital, he worked as a research assistant at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.

After receiving the title of Cardiovascular Surgeon Specialist in 1995, he worked as a lecturer between 1995 and 1999 and as an Assistant Professor between 1999 and 2003 in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. Having received his Associate Professorship in 2003, Dr. Cengiz Türkay worked as Assistant Chief Physician at Akdeniz University Hospital between 2005-2008. He received the title of Professor in 2009.

He has many studies on coronary artery surgery (bypass operation), heart transplantation, artificial heart, stem cell injection to the heart and laser treatment of varicose veins. Dr. Cengiz Türkay received the first prize in the field of scientific research and laboratory in the 25th establishment year of Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, for his work. He took an active role in more than 70 heart transplants and artificial heart application to more than 100 patients.

Professor Doctor Cengiz Türkay is still working at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, and teaches vein diseases, functional vascular diseases and heart valve diseases to medical doctor candidates.
